Dame Diana Rigg

This episode follows actress Dame Diana Rigg and her early childhood in India in the last days of British Raj. Diana travels to the desert state of Rajasthan, to find out how and why her father, a railway worker-engineer from Doncaster, ended up working in charge of a maharaja as Chief Mechanical Engineer for 3000 employees and more than a hundred locomotives. The family luxury lifestyle was not to last, and Diana finds out how their parents were trapped in the last days of empirein India. For their parents, life would never be the same when they returned after 20 years as a post-war Britain still in the grip of rationing and unemployment.
